How to register a trademark before INPI Argentina?

The body in charge of registering trademarks in Argentina is the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI).

INPI is an autonomous entity and its mean objectives are:
Register trademarks, industrial models and patents;
Promote initiatives and develop activities related to the knowledge and protection of industrial property (IP) in Argentina;
Participate internationally in events related to industrial property;
Provide information to the general public on issues related to IP.

Intellectual property is a branch of law that protects, according to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), all creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, as well as symbols, names and images used in commerce.

Intellectual Property is divided into two categories:
INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY: Includes patents, utility models, trademarks, models and industrial designs, etc.
COPYRIGHTS AND RELATED RIGHTS: This subcategory includes the protection of literary, artistic works (paintings, photographs, novels, etc.), and architectural designs.
In Argentina, INPI is in charge of concentrating all the procedures related to Industrial Property. It also has the function of applying the rules relating to said matter and the protection of the rights of the owners.

The procedure to register a trademark in Argentina before INPI begins with an application and payment of official fees and the application goes through different stages, including a formalities examen, publication, oppositions period and registrability exam.
